Thai delegation arrives at Shillong to discuss economic ties

Shillong, Jun 23 (UNI) A 29-member Thai business delegation, led by Commerce Minister Krirk-Krai Jirapaet would arrive here tomorrow to discuss economic ties with local entrepreneurs and government officials.

The delegation would be accompanied by Minister-in-charge Development of North Eastern Region Mani Shankar Aiyar and Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh and top officials of both ministries.

''The delegation will work out modalities for setting up business in Meghalaya on Tourism, Spices, Horticulture and Food Processing,'' a government official said here today.

''Thailand expressed interest in setting up long term relations with the north-eastern states for importing bamboo products and therefore we invited them to the region and met the primary stakeholders,'' the official said.
