NESO criticises Meghalaya govt for KSU leaders' arrest
Guwahati, Jun 23 (UNI) The North East Students Organisation (NESO) today criticised Meghalaya government for arresting the Khasi Students' Union (KSU) leaders, who were opposing Uranium mining in the state.
NESO chairman Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharyya, secretary N S N Lotha and advisor Artex A Simre, in a release issued here, have demanded the immediate release of the KSU leaders.
They pointed out that the KSU was opposing Uranium mining in the state as experts had stated that mining would be hazardous for the environment of the state.
The NESO leaders also criticised the government for trying to repress the peaceful agitation of the KSU through domination.
They pledged their support for the KSU-sponsored agitation, which was being carried out it a democratic manner.
