Maharashtra CM leaves for US, to seek infra investment
New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will leave tomorrow on a ten-day tour to the United States, to seek investment in infrastructure development in his state.
Along with state Industry Minister Ashok Chavan, the Chief Minister will meet New York Governor and Microsoft Chief during the tour, which will also take him to Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago and Illinois, an official statement said here today.
During his visit to New York, Mr Deshmukh will attend a a two-day conference of Maharastra Investment Forum to be organised by a leading media group. Captains of Indian industry including Mr Ratan Tata will also attend the seminar, the statement added.
He will also be meeting CEOs of US majors like IBM, Ashland, Cisco, Starbucks and Blackstone during his visit.
Besides, the Chief Minister will address a public reception by Asia Society in New York, on public-private-partnership for infrastructure development.
He is expected to participate in a business conference at Seattle to be organised by Brihan Maharashtra Mandal, an association of Maharashtrians residing in North America. It will apprise Marathi entrepreneurs from the United States and Canada about investment opportunities available in their home state, the statement further added.
