Kochi, June 23 (UNI) The entrance examination of the Kerala Private Medical College Managements' Association was cancelled today after a group of people allegedly belonging to Students Federation of India (SFI), the students wing of the Marxist party, ransacked the examination centre here.

Association Secretary George Paul said the alleged activists barged into the examination centre and destroyed furniture just before the examination started.

''Taking into consideration the tense situation, the Association had decided to cancel the examination,'' he added.

''Even though there was a huge police presence at the venue, they were mere spectators to the incident,'' Mr Paul alleged.

He said the Association would apprise the Kerala High Court of the present situation and seek permission to admit students on the basis of the qualifying examination marks.

Police said no one was injured in the incident and were looking into the matter.
