Two arrested with fake currency in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police have has arrested two persons and recovered Rs one lakh fake currency from they, a police spokesman said.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested one Mohammad Sidiq Khan, a resident of village Dildar, Karnah and recovered Rs 11000 fake currency amounting to Rs 11,000 and Rs 35,000 in orignal currency.

Police station Maisuma received a tip-off that a person has purchased cigrattes from a shopkeeper at Court Road, Lal Chowk with fake currency note. Police immediatel swung into action and arrested the man.

During the investigation the accused said that he had purchased the fake currency from one Idrees Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Sanzipore Mavar Handwara police said.

He said Sheikh was using a computer to print fake Rs one housand, five hundred, one hundred and fifty currency notes.

A police party raided the house of Sheikh and recovered Rs 75,000 in fake currency notes.

Investigating officer ASI Mohammad Taseen told that a case under has been registered.

The investigation of the case is on and more recoveries and arrests are expected, Police added.
