K'taka: H K Patil demands resignation of HDK
Hubli, June 22: Leader of opposition in Karnataka Legislative Council H K Patil today urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to resign immediately if he was to keep up his words that he would resign from the post if there was proof that his government has acquired any lands of farmers.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Patil read out a letter written by KIDB on May five last, to M/s Gandhi City Developers, asking to pay Rs 16.56 crore as balance payment and confirming receipt of Rs Five crore as advance payment for acquisition of lands. "Is this proof is not enough?. I can give several other proofs also. It is blunt lie that Mr Kumaraswamy saying that the government would not acquire farmers lands,", Mr Patil alleged.
Giving details of the acquisition of lands to the tune of 27,932 acres for industrial purpose and single unit complex in the State during 2006-07, Mr Patil said acquisition never crossed 2000 acre mark from 2001 to 2006.
Referring to UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi's reported statement during Goa electioneering recently that her party would not allow Mahadayi project, Mr Patil said a delegation of party leaders from Karnataka met Ms Gandhi and convinced her on the project. She immediately responded and assured the delegation that she would ask the Prime Minister and Union Minister for Water Resources to look into the matter.
A delegation of Congress party from the state has been invited by Union Minister for Water Resource to a meeting tomorrow at Delhi.
"We will put forth all facts of the project and urge him to clear the abeyance on the project," he added.
Mr Patil said that the delegation would also raise the Cauvery issue in the Meeting.
