Ultras detonate IED, attack police party, arms recovered in J
Srinagar, Jun 21 (UNI) Militants today detonated a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED), attacked a police party and beat up son of a numberdar while security forces arrested a Lashkar ultra, busted three hideouts and recovered war like stores in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
Official sources said militants today detonated a powerful IED at Delina in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. However, there was no loss of life or damage to property in the blast, they said.
A police spokesman said a militant of Pakistan based Lashkar-e- Toiba (LeT) was arrested in village Chakoora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Militants attacked a police party with automatic weapons at Gardaseer Bijbehara last evening. The fire was returned but the militants managed to escape leaving behind one pistol with six rounds, one grenade and 2 mobile phones.
He said militants entered the house of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, a numberdar, at Kulgam and beat up his son. However,the inmates raised an alaram. Militants later fired a few shots in air and fled from the spot.
He said a hideout was busted at Saldoori in Machil sector and a large cache of arms and ammunition, including 4 AK rifles, 8 AK magazines, 151 rounds, 1 pistol, 2 pistol magazines, 44 pistol rounds, 69 detonators and 4 wireless sets were recovered.
In another operation, security forces and police unearthed a hideout at Gumari Warwan and recovered one 12 Bore Gun, 6 AK magazines, 3 cartridges of 12 Bore Gun, 1 grenade and 1 telescope.
A militant surrendered alongwith one Self Loading Rifle (SLR), 2 magazine, 27 rounds and 1 wireless set at Jammu.
