Production of finished carbon steel up by over 10%
New Delhi, Jun 21 (UNI) The production of finished carbon steel has increased by 10.1 per cent during April and May this year, compared to the corresponding period last year.
According to an official statement issued here today, the exports of finished carbon steel has also shown an increase of 7.6 per cent, while imports moved up by 11.1 per cent during the same period compared to the corresponding period previous year.
The production of fnished carbon steel was placed at 8.250 million tonnes (MT) during April-May, this year, as against 7.490 MT for the same period last year.
The pig iron production was placed at 0.803 MT during April-May, 2007, as against 0.717 MT for the corresponding period last year.
Similarly, the exports of finished carbon steel was placed at 0.850 MT during April-May, 2007, as against 0.790 MT for the same period last year.
The imports of finished carbon steel was higher at 0.400 MT, as against 0.360 MT for the period under review, the statement added.
