NHRC team conducts on-the-spot inquiry in Gurgaon's Pataudi town
New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) An NHRC team today visited Gurgaon's Pataudi town, where semi-charred foetuses were recovered from a well near a nursing home, and conducted an on-the-spot inquiry.
The two-member team will submit a report within two weeks, a Commission spokesperson said.
Taking suo-motu cognisance of a June 15 newspaper report, the NHRC also asked the Haryana Chief Secretary and DGP to submit a report regarding the case within four weeks.
According to the newspaper report, Haryana Health Department officials had raided the maternity and nursing home owned and run by A K Singh, a quack, and recovered a large quantity of foetal remains from the well.
The report said Singh was convicted for running a medical practice on a bogus MBBS degree.
It highlighted that the clinic was involved in conducting sex determination tests and female foeticide for many years. The raiding party had also seized a portable ultrasound machine and equipment used for termination of pregnancies.
