Husband clubs wife to death and then commits suicide

Fazilka, June 21 (UNI) A husband first clubbed his wife to death and then committed suicide in Katiawala village near here today, police said.

According to the police, Gurcharan Singh clubbed his wife to death with a pestle after she objected to his daily consumption of liquor. He got hold of the pestle with which his wife was pounding spices and smashed it on her head a number of times, killing her on the spot.

He then consumed insecticide and died in a room in his house. The villagers later reported the matter to the police. The police after postmortem handed over the dead bodies to the village residents for cremation.
