Centre approves road repair work for 26 stretches in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) The Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, has approved a sum of Rs 31.50 crore for road improvement work under Central Road Fund Scheme in Tamil Nadu.

The Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu announced in Tamil nadu today that the amount will be used for widening and strengthening of 14 road stretches of state highways, major districts roads and other district roads in the State.

The roads which will be taken up under this project comprises improvements to Krishnagiri Varatannapalli-Kandhakuppam Road km 1/0-18/5, 18/9-23/0 including minor bridge at 9/6 at a cost of Rs 475 lakh, and improvements to Bargur-Jegadevi Road km 0/0-8/2 at a cost of Rs 150 lakh in Krishnagiri.

Widening and strengthening of Cuddalore-Chittor road to Arpakkam via Kovoor Km 0/0-11/0 will be taken at a cost of Rs 200 lakh and widening and strengthening of Perumanam road Km 0/0-8/6 at a cost of Rs 160 lakh in Thirupattur.

The level of Mettur-Palakkanuthu-Oddanchatram-Dharapuram- Kangeyam-Erode road km 16/0-20/0 will be done at a cost of Rs 405 lakh in Dindigul.

Widening and improving the Thandalam-Perambakkam Road km 5/0-10/0 will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 350 lakh in Sriperumpudur and that of Palani-Dharapuram Road (via) Alangiam km 27/250-32/680 at a cost of Rs 275 lakh in Coimbatore. Widening and strengthening of warthirunagari-Nazereth-Sathankulam-Ittamozhi-Valliyur Road km 37/0-41/0 will be at a cost of Rs250 lakh in Thiruchendur.

Construction of high-level bridge at km 69/2 of Salem-Thiruppathur-Vaniyambadi Road across Thenpennai river will be done at a cost of Rs 250 lakh in Dharmapuri.

Widening and strengthening of Ammanpuram-Arumuganeri Road km 0/0-4/8 will be at a cost of Rs 200 lakh in Tuticorin.

Widening and improvement of Karaikudi-C. Siruvayal Road km 0/0-7/4 comes at a cost of Rs 200 lakh and that of Aathanigudi-Konappattu Road km 0/0-1/6 at a cost of Rs 50 lakh in Sivaganga.

Strengthening Arcot Villupuram Road km 110/0-114/4 will be at a cost of Rs 150 lakh in Thiruvannamalai.

Widening and strengthening of Grivalam road in Palani town will be at a cost of Rs 40 lakh.

The Ministry had earlier sanctioned an amount or Rs 77.70 crore in March this year for carrying out Road Improvement Work in 26 Road Stretches in Tamil Nadu, said an official release issued here today.
