TRS chief resorts to hunger strike
Hyderabad, June 20 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, along with party MPs and MLAs, today resorted to a token hunger strike, demanding that the Government scrap GO 34, issued to take up micro irrigation projects in the Telangana and Rayalaseema regions instead of building canals at the lift irrigation projects.
Fasting at Indira Park here, Mr Rao alleged that the Congress Government was cheating the people of Telangana by not implementing the poll promises like speedy completion of pending irrigation projects in the backward region.
Threatening that the TRS would lay seige to the State Secretariat on July two, if the Government did not scrap the GO, the TRS chief said the party would continue its agitation until their demands, including implementation of GO 610, were met.
