TN: Six killed, 18 injured in road accident

Tiruvallur, June 20: Six passengers were killed and 18 others injured, including four seriously when a bus overturned at Tiruvallur-Sriperumbudur link road near Polivakkam in this district here today evening.

Police said the mishap occurred at 1840 hrs when the driver tried to cross over fallen trees lying on both sides of the road and lost control. Both the driver and conductor were suspected to be in an inebriated condition.

The deceased were identified as Nagappan(50, Chithirai(45), Annadurai(34), Thangapandian(20), Mani(40) and Kumar, engineer by profession, whose age could not be ascertained.

The four seriously injured were admitted to Government General Hospital at Chennai.

The remaining 14 were undergoing treatment at District headquarters hospital here.

District Collector Ranvir Prasad and Superintedent of Police Rajendran visited the hospital here and consoled the injured.
