New Delhi, Jun 20 (UNI) The southwest monsoon is likely to advance into parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan while enhanced rainfall activity is likely in the next five days over parts of Peninsular and Central India under the influence of a low pressure area lying over East-central and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department today said.

''As of today, a well marked low pressure area lies over East-Central and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal. It is likely to concentrate into a depression by tomorrow and move in a West-Northwesterly direction across North Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat,''the IMD said in a release here.

In association with the above system, the Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance further into remaining parts of Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, entire Gujarat and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan during the next five days.

Under the influence of the system, widespread rains are likely over Andhra Pradesh, South Orissa, South Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha between June 21 and 23.
