RPI extends support to UPA Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil

Sangli, Maharashtra, June 20 (UNI) Republican Party of India (RPI-Athawale Group) chief and MP Ramdas Athawale today said his party would support UPA's Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Athawale urged Shiv Sena to support Ms Patil as she was a ''Maharashtrian woman candidate for the highest post.'' Saying when Shiv Sena (SS) was founded long back, its founder Bal Thackeray had announced that the Sena was set-up only for the welfare of the people of Maharashtra, Mr Athawale urged Sena to support Ms Patil.
