Relatives protest police laxity in girl kidnapping case
New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) In a repeat of yesterday's protests, relatives of a 16-year-old girl today 'gheraoed' the Kalyanpuri police station in East Delhi alleging neglect in searching the teenager who went missing about 20 days back.
The matter was later brought under control with the intervention of senior police officails who assured of 'prompt action' after which the protestors, numbering about a hundred, withdrew.
Relatives of the girl, who went missing on May 30 from Trilokpuri, allege that despite 20 days having passed and three people arrested in this connection the girl was yet to be recovered.
Sources said the May 30 'missing report' was turned into a 'case of kidnapping' with a local boy Hari Om being accused of the crime.
Later, after Hari Om was arrested he named two others -- Anil and Madan -- who denied that the girl was with them.
Locals allege that laxity in police investigation has left the case unresolved for so long.
