Police busts gang of fake currency makers

Moga, June 20 (UNI) Police today busted a five-member gang involved in printing fake Indian currency notes and seized fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 5,06,000 besides recovering a computer, a scanner and three colour printers.

Faridkot SSP L K Yadav told newspersons here today that the police raided kingpin Ramesh Kumar's house on Muktsar road at Kotkapura on a tip-off and nabbed all the five members of the gang while engaged in printing counterfeit currency notes.

Mr Yadav said that the accused used to supply the fake currency notes to their contacts in Rajasthan and Haryana and had been operating since last four to five months.

The seized fake Indian currency notes are of Rs 500 denomination (Rs 2.70 lakh) and the remaining are of Rs 100 denomination.

Those arrested were identified as Ramesh Kumar, kingpin of the gang, Mohit Kumar of Faridkot a computer expert, Jagseer Khan and Boota Khan both from Baghapurana and Buta Singh from Sandhwan village near Kotkapura, he said.
