PM to felicitate 'Emerging India Awards' winners

Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will fecilitate winners of the ''Emerging India Awards'' on June 22 in Mumbai.

The awards have been instituted to develop and boost India's Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) and are given in ten categories which include auto, pharma, FMCG, gems, jewellery, textiles, and the tourism sectors.

''This year's awards have created a history as over one lakh nominations from across the country have been received, which is 185 per cent higher than the entries recieved last year,'' a release said today.

Touted as an initiative powered by the capability of shaping the future of Indian SMEs, the awards have been acknowledged as India's biggest business awards by the Limca Book of Records.

''This year the maximum number of entries are from Maharshtra, followed by Karnataka and West Bengal,'' the release added.
