Over 7000 CGHS employees hold demonstrations

New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) More than 7000 Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) employees today held demonstrations across the country to press for their demands, including filling up of all vacant posts.

Protests were held in 20 cities including Delhi, Meerut, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore.

The All India CGHS Employees' Association, which organised the protests, accused the Government of adopting lackadaisical approach towards the issues raised by it.

''The authorities have been ignoring the issues raised by us...The Government is adamant and is not fulfilling the demands,'' said Association General Secretary Ram Kishan.

The Association is also demanding proper and timely implementation of the ACP scheme and immediate compassionate appointments Mr Kishan urged Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss to fulfill the demands of the employees.

The Association President and Vice President have threatened to launch an indefinite hunger strike from June 25 if their demands are not met by then.
