One killed, five injured in car accident

Phagwara, June 20 (UNI) One person was killed and five others, including a woman, were injured when the car in which they were travelling, dashed against a tree on the national highway near Saprod village this afternoon.

According to police sources, the occupants of the car were on their way from Jalandhar to Ludhiana when one of its front tyres bursted and dashed against a tree. Tejwinder Singh, who was driving the car, died on the way while he was being taken to the hospital.

Police said the injured, Harvinderpal Singh, Davinderpal Singh, Kulbir Singh, Kamaljit Singh and Harbhajan Kaur, all residents of Ludhiana were admitted to local civil hospital. The condition of Kulbir and Harvinderpal, who sustained multiple injuries on the face, head and limbs, was said to be critical.
