Srinagar, June 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC), led by moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, today celebrated its 43rd foundation day.

Late Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq founded the AAC in 1964. The late Mirwaiz was assassinated by unidentified gunmen at his posh Nigeen residence here on May 21, 1990. The present Mirwaiz took over the reigns of the AAC soon after his father's killing.

Speaking on the occasion, Mirwaiz Farooq reiterated that the four point formula of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf was a significant development toward resolving the vexed Kashmir issue.

India should reciprocate without any further delay, he added.

The Hurriyat Chairman said peace and stability in South Asia would remain elusive without resolving the Kashmir issue.

He claimed that India's intransigent approach was the main stumbling block in resolving the contentious Kashmir issue.
