MCX turnover at Rs 2,772.18 cr

Mumbai, Jun 20 (UNI) The Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) turnover today touched Rs 2,772.18 crore in the first session and total number of trades were 53,602.

MCX Comdex--the composite index of metal, energy and agri-indices--was down 0.13 per cent at 2160.82 points.

The MCX Metal Index gained at 0.35 per cent at 2544.61 points, MCX Energy Index was at 2232.51 points, and MCX Agri Index ended at 1682.05 points, a MCX spokesperson said.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 829.20 crore of which gold was Rs 449.50 crore and silver Rs 379.69 crore. Gold contract volumes were 5,084 kgs and open interest was 14,118 kg while silver volumes were 208,735 kgs and open interest was 555,185 Gold contracts, including gold mini, gained between Rs 3 and Rs 13 per 10 gm, with the August contracts up by 0.03 per cent at Rs 8850 per ten gm.

Silver contracts, including silver mini, traded between Rs 4 and 13 per kg. The July contract was up at Rs 18,182 per kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 774.06 crore with volume of 25,079,000 kg and open interest of 13,070,000 kg. Copper contracts traded gain between Rs 3.55 and Rs 3.95 per kg with the June contract advancing by 1.3 per cent at Rs 309.75 per kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 352.11 crore with volume of 23,355 tonnes and OI of 31,690 tonnes. Zinc contracts gain between Rs 0.75 and Rs 0.85 per kg with the June contract was at Rs 150.70 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 348.27 crore with volume of 2,188,250 kg and open interest of 1,282,000 kg. Nickel for June delivery was up by 2 per cent at Rs 1,600.10 per kg.

Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 3.48 crore with volume of 316 tonnes and open interest of 6,510 tonnes. Aluminium June contract was up 0.23 per cent at Rs 109.75 per kg, the MCX spokesman added.
