LJP to contest Gujarat elections: Paswan
Gandhinagar, Jun 20 (UNI) Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan today said his Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) would field candidates for upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls.
Addressing a Lok Janshakti Party meet here, he said apart from BJP and Congress, his party would also contest the forthcoming polls in Gujarat although the number of candidates that he would be fielding is not yet decided.
He said ''People of Gujarat would be happy to have more than one choice. Congress though our partner has not garnered a majority on its own. We hope to make a debut in Gujarat and the number of seats could depend on the kind of understanding we have with Congress.'' According to him there was a growing anti-incumbency wave in Gujarat against the Modi government, more so in rural areas. This could be harnessed to dislodge the BJP from power in the State.
The LJP meet was attended by over a thousand party workers from all over the State led by its Gujarat chief Mukesh Gurjjar and vice president Lalbhai Shah.
