Kotwar panchayat on June 22

Bhopal, June 20 (UNI) In an attempt to solve the problems of different sections of people by organising their state-level conventions, the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh will be organising Kotwar panchayat here on June 22.

This will be the fifth such event being organised here in the last few months after the panchayats for women, farmers, tribals, Dalits and forest dwellers.

Kotwars formed the lowest rung of the government machinery in villages as they were supposed to function as watchman and inform the police and other revenue officials about every development, crime, birth and death. Besides providing few acres of land to earn their livelihood, they were also paid nominal honorarium.

''Kotwars from all 48 districts will assemble at the Chief Minister's official residence to air their grievances. Discussions will be held on various service related problems and work nature'', official sources said.
