Jewellery shop robbed of Rs 50 lakh in broad daylight
Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) A jewellery shop was allegedly robbed in broad daylight at Pant Nagar in Ghatkopar here this morning.
Paras Jewellery shop was looted by four unidentified persons at Pant Nagar at around 1010 hrs. The robbers fled with four jewellery boxes, approximately worth Rs 50 lakh, police said here.
The robbers fled in an autorickshaw bearing number MH-02-X-5085 towards Vikhroli area, they added.
In another incident, an employee of S K Agency, Vasant Morargar Goswami (45) was looted by two bike-borne thieves at 1810 hrs yesterday. He was on his way to deposit a daily collection of Rs 40,000 in the bank near Paramkeshaw Hotel, Ghatkopar.
In his First Information Report (FIR), Mr Goswami said two motorbike riders were chasing his bike and tried to snatch his cash.
When he resisted, they stabbed near his neck and ran away with the bag.
Police have arrested Jonson Fransis (25) in this case.
A mobile phone worth Rs 9,000 was snatched, in another incident, by three unidentified persons at Powai in eastern suburbs yesterday.
Also yesterday, a senior citizen was looted of Rs one lakh by an unidentified person at Chembur in eastern suburbs, the police said, adding further investigations were in progress.
