Jaya condemns desecration of MGR statue

Chennai, June 20 (UNI) AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa today condemned the desecration of Late Chief Minister and AIADMK Founder MGR's statue at Tuticorin yesterday by some miscreants.

In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa pointed out that the incident had shocked everybody and it was sad that the police had not taken any action so far in this connection despite a complaint by the public.

She alleged that the police was maintaining silence over such incidents and this indicated deterioration of law and order in the state.

She wanted the culprits to be nabbed.

She also alleged that the ruling DMK men had let loose violence by hurling petrol bombs at the AIADMK party office in Tuticorin last week.
