Intervener claims evidence against police officer: Yunus case

Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) The matter of alleged custodial death of Ghatkopar bomb blast accused Sayyad Khwaja Yunus took a new turn today as one more intervener moved the Bombay High Court claiming to have evidence against high-profile police officer Pradip Sharma, implicated in the case.

The court has allowed the intervener to approach the concerned officer of the State CID who is investigating the case.

Harish Vichare, a Nationalist Congress Party activist, has moved an intervention application claiming he has evidence against the erstwhile police officer of the crime branch and one employee of State CID.

Alleging that Sharma was being shielded, Vichare's advocate claimed his client has evidence against the high-profile police officer.

A division bench comprising Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Dilip Bhosale disposed off the intervention application allowing Vichare to approach the concerned investigation officer from the State CID and hand over whatever evidence he has.

Meanwhile, State CID's counsel Adv Mokashi informed the court that agency has completed investigations into the alleged custodial death of the bomb blast accused and submitted a final report to the Director General of Police (DGP) Dr P S Pasricha.

Public Prosecutor Satish Borulkar told the court that the DGP will take a decision on the report, whether to grant permission to file a chargesheet against the police officers involved in the case or not, within two weeks. The matter will now appear for further hearing after two weeks.
