Illicit affair claims three in TN

Kancheepuram, June 20 (UNI) An illict affair claimed the life of three people at Sriperumbudur, near here.

Police said Santhi (42) was staying with her two daughters and a son in D K Nagar. Her husband was a drunkard and the family had no contact with him for the past several months.

Santhi did embroidery work to earn a living. She gradually developed a liking for one Sankar (26).

Yesterday, her daughter Hemalatha (18) returned home early from college only to find the couple in a compromising position.

An ashamed Santhi doused kerosene on herself and her lover and both set themselves alight. A shocked Hemalatha tried to save them only to get caught in the fire.

The three were taken to the Kilpauk Government Hospital in Chennai with serious burn injuries.

While Hemalatha died last night, the end came this morning to Santhi and Sankar. A post-mortem was conduced later.
