Heavy rains expected in south Gujarat from June 22

Surat, Jun 20 (UNI) Heavy rain is expected in various districts of south Gujarat only after June 22, district flood control room officials said here today.

''We do not expect a sudden downpour during the next 48 hours,'' an official from the flood control room said.

Meanwhile various talukas in Surat district have recorded a total rainfall of 409 mm till 0800 hrs today.

Nizar (128 mm), Vyara (75 mm), Songadh (63 mm) and Kamrej (48 mm) have recorded moderate rainfall during the last 24 hrs.

The water level at Ukai dam is recorded at 293.3 ft, less than 50 ft below danger level, control room sources added.
