Bangalore, June 20 (UNI) HealthCare Global Enterprises Limited (HCG) is setting up a whole body robotic stereo tactic radio surgery centre christened ''Cyberknife'' here in collaboration with Singapore-based Advanced Medical Systems Private Limited (AMS).

Talking to newspersons today, after the ground breaking ceremony for the project, HCG Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ajai Kumar said the Rs 30 crore project would bring state-of-the-art next generation radio surgery systems.

He said the new system with continuous image-guidance technology has the flexibility to move in three dimensions according to the treatment plan and extends the benefits of radio surgery to the treatment of tumors anywhere in the body.

The ''Cyberknife'' system autonomously tracks, detects and corrects tumor and patient movement in real-time during the procedure, enabling delivery of precise, high dose radiation with sub millimetre accuracy, he said.

Mr Kumar said the HCG was expanding its activities by establishing Oncology centers across the country.

''The mission is to make high quality cancer treatment accessible and affordable to all segments of the society and lead the adoption of global innovations in the diagnosis, treatment and management of cancer,'' he added.

The project would take six to eight months for completion.

AMS President and CEO Romesh Kaul said his company provides integrated diagnostic and minimally invasive therapy solutions that support quality healthcare in developing markets.

''Through Cyberknife, HCG would be able to provide the most accurate radiation therapy with only three to five treatment sessions for tumour of any size anywhere in the body,'' he added.
