HC closes contempt petition against govt on helmet

Kochi, June 20 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today closed the contempt petition against the state government for not implementing the direction regarding wearing of helmet.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dutta and Justice K T Sanakaran today closed the contempt petition filed against the government.

The High Court had directed the government to strictly implement the provisions of the Kerala Motor Vehicles Act which provides mandatory of wearing helmet for bike riders in 2003.

The petitioner contended that even after four years the government had not complied with the judgement.

The Counsel for the state today submitted before the court that the government had already taken steps.
