8 nominations submitted for Prez poll so far

New Delhi, June 20: T Shanmukhappa of Karnataka became the eighth person to file the the nomination papers for the Presidential election-2007 today.

His nomination papers were accompanied by the certified copy of the electoral roll and the requisite deposit, but not supported with the names of any proposers and seconders.

According to official sources, the office of the RO and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) can reject any nomination papers provided it is not accompanied by the certified copy of the electoral list displaying the name of the candidate.

For all other categories, the rejection process will be taken up at the time of scrutiny.

The election authorities have so far rejected the nomination papers of two persons for not submitting the certified copy of the electoral rolls bearing their name along with their nominations.

These two persons were Ashok Shankar Patil of Maharashtra and Har Prakash of Delhi, the sources added.
