CPMT probe report submitted, fresh results tomorrow

Lucknow, June 20 (UNI) There was no scam and only a technical flaw in the declaration of Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Test (CPMT) 2007 results, according to a nine-member probe team constitued to detect any irregularities.

The fresh CPMT results would be announced tomorrow morning with the students having an option to see their answer sheet if they have any reservation on their results.

Announcing this at a press conference here today, State cabinet secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said that as per the preleminary examination of the report, submitted to Chief Minister this evening, technical flaw is stated to be the main reason behind the controversy.

''Fresh results would be announced tomorrow morning with the publication of the question and answer sheet of the CPMT in newspapers'', he said adding that now the students within 8 days of the announcement of the result can seek to see the answersheet if they are not convinced with the results.

Mr Singh said that as per the directive of Chief Minister Mayawati after examining the entire report and taking legal advice, action could be taken against anyone found guilty in the entire eposide.

''During prima-facie investigation it was found that the programming was faulty and it was not cross-checked manually'', he said.

As per the irregularity it was found that the Key (answersheet) of set-1 was wrongly repeated for set-2, set-3 and set-4 also.

The Mayawati government, had withheld the earlier results after irregularities were reflected in it, which had created panic among the students. Furious mobs of students had taken to the streets at several places, while one student had committed suicide.

When asked if the CPMT-2007 chairman Prof K P Singh should not be held guilty for the irregularities, the cabinet secretary said any action can only be taken after going through the report.
