CPMT probe report submitted, fresh results soon

Lucknow, June 20 (UNI) A seven-member probe team, constituted to detect irregularities in the CPMT 2007 results, declared on June 14, today submitted its report to the Uttar Pradesh government.

The probe team has found that 75 per cent of the declared results were wrong. Therefore, the new results would be declared within a day or two.

The Mayawati government, had withheld the earlier results after irregularities were reflected in it, which had created panic among the students. Furious mobs of students had taken to streets at several places, while one student had committed suicide.

The team comprising Special Secretary, Medical Education, S K Raghuvanshi, Medical Education Director General Dr Kamal Sahni along with Technical Director of NIC S F A Naqwi, Registrar of UP Technical University, Dr U S Tomar and three others from Delhi, returned from Jaunpur yesterday.

They had examined papers and other related documents at the Veer Bahadur Singh Poorvanchal University, which conducted the CPMT 2007.

State Principal Secretary (Medical Education) Arun Kumar Mishra had yesterday said ''We have decided to announce fresh results after technical flaw is detected in the prima facie investigation.'' The secretary had also hinted as per the preliminary report about 75 per cent of the results could be changed in the fresh CPMT results.

More than 80,000 students had appeared in the examinations for admission in UP medical colleges, of which about 15,000 were called for counselling. The medical aspirants had demanded the rechecking of all the answer-sheets of the premier medical test of UP.
