Hyderabad, June 20 (UNI) Congress leaders from Andhra and Telangana will shortly call on party chief Sonia Gandhi to press for an early decision on the demand for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to reporters here, senior party leader from Andhra region Ch Hariram Jogaiah opined that the situation might go out of control in the wake of provocative statements made by Telangana Rashtra Samiti President K Chandrasekara Rao with reference to implementation of GO 610 on repatriation of non-local employees from the Telangana region.

Any indecision on the issue of statehood would cost the party both in the Telangana and Andhra regions, he said, adding that the state might witness violent agitation as in the past if the present situation continued.

Claiming that the guidelines issued for implementation of the GO were allegedly in violation of the Presidential Order, he opined that the guidelines would not stand legal scrutiny. The TRS and the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association were trying to blackmail the Government, he added.

He opposed repatriation of non-local employees back to the Andhra region as the same would lead to confusion and suggested that the State Government create supernumerary posts in Telangana itself for them as their repatriation to the region would affect the seniority of existing employees there.
