CITCO hotels discontinue paid channel services

Chandigarh, Jun 20 (UNI) The lobby of TV Channels Broadcasting agencies are exerting pressure on hotel establishments to pay exorbitant fee for renowned paid channels like Star, Zee, Sony and ESPN.

Big hotel establishments like hotel Mountview of CITCO, which has more than 150 rooms, has decided to discontinue the paid channel services. It would henceforth provide select free to air channels to their guests.

The hotel industry through its Apex body Federation of Hotel and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI) is taking up the matter in the Supreme Court to rationalise the paid fee structure for these channels so as to enable the authorised distributors and entertainment networks to be reasonable in their services.

According to CITCO MD Jasbir Singh Bir CITCO would continue to provide free to air channels (FTA) in their hotels until the charges of paid channels are structured reasonably.
