AP Cabinet approves land for Uranium Corporation

Hyderabad, June 20 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet tonight accorded its approval for allocating 1094 acres of land to the Public Sector Uranium Corporation of India for setting up an Uranium Extraction Plant in Kadapa district.

Talking to newspersons here, Information Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy also gave its nod for a 'unique' resettlement and rehabilitation package for those who would be displaced by the 1.4 Tonne capacity Alumina Refinery project of the Jindal South West Aluminimum Company in Vizianagaram district.

The Cabinet gave its approval for development of a Leather Special Economic Zone in Tada at Nellore District by the Bharatiya International Limited, which had production infrastructure in various countries, including China and Italy and marketing arm in Europe and North America, he said, adding that the Government would have its nominee in the Company Board to ensure that local people got employment in the SEZ.

Giving details of the package for oustees of the Alumina Refinery Project, Mr Ramanarayana said an ex-gratia of Rs 2,00,500 per acre would be paid to those assignees, who would be losing land and those opting out of job in the Plant, would be given an additional Rs three lakh.

The Cabinet also gave its approval for creating a new corporation for constructuion of flats and independent houses for urban middle class people under the ''Rajiv Swagruha'' programme, he said adding that 1.74 lakh dwelling units would be constructed at 99 locations at a cost of Rs 20,769 crore in three years.
