Animation institute opened in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, June 20 (UNI) Bangkok-headquartered Digital Asia School of Animation (DASA), Animation/VFX pioneer, Crest Founder and Digital Asia today jointly launched LiAD Institute of Art and Design here.

Aditi Govirtrikar and animated movie ''Hanuman'' director V G Samat presided over the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Samat said, ''This institute will be an asset to Ahmedabad and for those having penchant for animation.'' Ms Govirtrikar said, ''Designing is a pool of creativity and when nurtured can be used professionally as a business. This institute will give an opportunity to its students to explore their talent.'' DASA was founded in 2003 by animation guru Shyam Ramanna who has also founded Crest Animation Studios. The school was set up in Bangkok for transforming the artistic capabilities of the Thai people. DASA is currently the first and only authorised training partner of Softimage, Canada. It is also working on alliances with top universities in the UK to provide leverage to the students to pursue higher degree courses in animation through these universities.
