Hyderabad, June 20 (UNI) Expressing concern over infighting within Congress in Andhra Pradesh, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh today exhorted partymen 'to bury the hatchet' and work for the party's victory in the 2009 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Inaugurating the second political training camp for party workers from six districts, Mr Singh, while lauding the efforts of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for the all-round development of the state, said, ''one man will not be able to fight at all levels.'' Referring to infighting in the party in Visakhapatnam and Kurnool, he asked, ''have the people have elected us to fight among ourselves.'' Calling upon the warring groups to resolve their differences amicably, he urged the state leadership to intervene and resolve out the differences among partymen.

Stating that the stir by the Left parties, demanding land to the poor, was ''politically-motivated'', he wanted the state government to take steps to ensure that all issues relating to land were resolved.

Describing the Right to Information Act, enacted by the Union Government, as an effective weapon given by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to fight against corruption, he urged the PCC leaders to train the party workers to invoke the provisions of the Act to curb corruption at all levels and improve the party's image among public.

Lamenting that the benefits of the subsidised 'Public Distribution System' were not reaching the poor, he asked the party workers to gherao kerosene dealers selling subsidised kerosene in the black market and bring to his notice if any party leader was behind such activity.

Mr Singh, who had been a victim of anti-incumbency in Madhya Pradesh, cautioned the government against getting carried away by the reports of the officials. Party workers should be actively involved to get a feedback on the ground realities and set right any lapses in implementation of the pro-poor policies of the Union and state governments, he added.
