Wives of men held as suspected naxals to move human right commision
Nagpur, June 19 (UNI) The wives of two of the four men nabbed here last month on suspicion of being naxalites, have claimed that their husbands are innocent and said they would move the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) soon against their arrests.
Speaking to newsmen here today, Savita Bedarkar, wife of Dhanendra Bhurale, and Kalpana Bansod, wife of Naresh Bansod, alleged that their husbands, arrested by the police here on May 8 last, had ''absolutely no connection'' with the naxalites and their movement.
Dhanendra Bhurale and Naresh Bansod, both residents of Gondia in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, were arrested along with Mahesh alias Murali alias Ashok Satya Reddy and Arun Thomas Parreira as they are suspected to be naxalites.
''Dhanendra and Naresh are friends, and had come to Nagpur from Gondia on May 8 to attend a wedding. Since they had time on hand before the wedding, the two went to Deekshabhoomi to buy some books,'' Ms Bedarkar and Ms Bansod said.
However, they received the shock of their lives when the police pounced upon them and placed them under arrest as soon as they alighted from an auto-rickshaw, the women said.
Dhanendra and Naresh did not know either Murali or Parreira, they added.
