Two CRPF jawans killed in Asom ambush

Guwahati, June 19 (UNI) Suspected KLNLF militants today ambushed a convoy of security forces, killing two CRPF jawans on the spot and injuring five others in Asom's Karbi Anglong district.

Karbi Anglong's ASP Nityananda Goswami said a joint team of police and CRPF team was returning from an operation in six vehicles when the incident occurred at Langlatsu under Dokmoka outpost at Horaghat here this evening.

The militants attacked one of the vehicles carrying CRPF jawans, with grenades and AK47, forcing the security team to retaliate.

Two CRPF jawans, Sonit Lakra and R K Reddy, were killed on the spot, while five others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

There were no reports of injuries on the other side, and the militants managed to escape.

A massive search operation was launched in the area to nab the ultras.
