TNCC to celebrate Rahul's birthday as 'Youth Renaissance Day'

Chennai, June 19 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) will celebrate Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's birthday as ''Youth Renaissance Day'' every year henceforth, TNCC President M Krishnaswamy today said.

Participating in Rahul Gandhi's 37th birthday celebration at Sathyamurthy Bhavan here, Mr Krishnaswamy cut a giant size cake and distributed it to the partymen gathered there.

He told newspersons that mass feeding, distribution of free sarees and dhoties were organised in different parts of Tamil Nadu to mark the day.

In his address, AICC Secretary Shantaram Naik said Rahul Gandhi was emerging as a popular leader and under his leadership, the Congress would win polls in the future.

Union Minister of State for Textiles E V K S Elangovan, AICC General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy, Party Leader Rama Suganthan, Congress Legislature Party leader D Sudharsanam and others also attended the function.

In a separate function, the Tamizhaga Rahul Gandhi Peravai organised organ donation awareness camp in which thousands of congress activists vowed to donate eyes and other organs.

To mark the occasion, the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress activists distributed sweets and cloths to the patients of various government hospitals and orphanages across the state.
