Servant robs businessman of lakhs in cash, jewellery
New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) An 18-year-old servant, employed just two months back, robbed his businessman employer of lakhs in cash and jewellery in Krishna Nagar area of East Delhi.
Ajay Paswan, working at the Krishna Nagar residence of businessman Pawan Gupta, came with three of his 'collegues' at about 1600 hrs yesterday and after allegedly tying two other servants of the house, robbed about Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and gold and diamond jewellery worth lakhs, according to a senior police official.
The robbery took place of the upper floor of the 'D' Block residence which also houses the clinic of Delhi BJP president Harshvardhan on the ground floor.
While Pawan Gupta, who deals in printing and packaging business, and his family were away during the incident, his ailing mother Saraswati Devi (80) was in the drawing room but remained unaware about the robbery.
''We suspect the involvement of the other servants, though investigations are on to ascertain the facts,'' said the official adding that hunt for the accused was on and a team was being sent to Muzaffarpur, the native place of accused Ajay.
No arrests have been made so far, he said.
The accused, who had been employed on the recommendation of some relative but antecedents not verified, had been kept just two months back.
