Rajnath defends Modi, says law and order good in Gujarat
Raipur, June 19 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today strongly defended Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying law and order situation was 'good' in that state.
''Modi government is doing a good job'', he told newsmen at Mana airport on his arrival here to attend the state BJP's core group meeting.
His statement comes in the backdrop of a section of BJP legislators in Gujarat mounting an attack on Mr Modi over the ''deteriorating'' law and order situation in the state. Mr Modi is facing dissidence in his party, ahead of assembly elections due by the year-end.
Asked about Gujarat BJP legislators' criticism of Mr Modi, Mr Singh said party legislators must desist from airing their views in public and raise any such issues only in a party forum.
Defending Mr Modi, he said it was only because of the good law and order situation that Gujarat has been able to move fast in the path of progress.
