Probe ordered into death of blast victim
Chandigarh, June 19 (UNI) Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Punjab Jagjit Puri, has ordered an enquiry based on a news item published in a section of press titled 'Amritsar blast victim dead-Colleagues accused hospital to negligence, demand probe'.
In a statement issued here today, Mr. Puri said that in case, it proves the negligence of some hospital staff, then strict action would be taken against that staff member.
He also directed Director, Medical Education and Research, Punjab(DMER), who will conduct the probe, to send enquiry report by 20th June.
In another case reported in a section of press regarding the corruption involved in the admission procedure of some Private Medical Institutions, Mr. Puri directed DMER to constitute a committee of senior doctors to investigate and report the facts within ten days.
He further said that the state government had a clear-cut transparent policy regarding the admission in various government and private medical institutions.
If any corrupt practice had crept into this system, it would be dealt with a heavy-hand and no one would be allowed to play with the future of the students.
