Patil releases Mahila Bachat Gut's directory
Pune, June 19 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil released a directory of the Mahila Bachat Gut here today, which will help the low-income group women to seek employment.
The directory, compiled by Nilima Tapasvi, contains names of 365 self-employed entrepreneurs from all over the state.
Releasing the directory, Mr Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, said its 2.25 lakh units are spread throughout the state and expected to generate revenue of Rs 178 crore during the next financial year.
He said the country has made rapid progress in diverse fields of industry and automation in the post-liberalised period, but its fruits have not been percolated down to the poor of the society, he lamented.
Citing an example of the Mahila Griha Udyog, the makers of 'Lizzat Papad', Mr Patil said it has extended gainful employment to 45,000 women from the poor section of society, who earn Rs 100 per day. The credit for the venture's success goes to an uneducated women who started the project long time ago. There are so many others who have opened new avenues for women to help themselves with project offering them with self-employment as well.
The directory will be useful to women from the low-income group category who are seeking employment, Mr Patil added.
