Oxford University confers 'Honoris Causa' on Prof CNR Rao
Bangalore, June 19 (UNI) Noted Scientist Prof C N R Rao has been conferred with Degree of Doctor of Science 'Honoris Causa' by the University of Oxford.
Prof Rao, National Research Professor and Honorary President of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) here, is the first Indian scientist to receive the honour.
The honorary degree would be conferred on Prof Rao by University Chancellor Lord Pattenat a special ceremony to be held tomorrow in Oxford.
Former US President Jimmy Carter and former President of Royal Society Lord May were the other two recipients of the honorary doctorate degree, a JNCASR release said.
Prof Rao was recently elected as Honorary Fellow of St Catherine's College, Oxford.
