No move for early polls in MP, Chhattisgarh: Rajnath

Raipur, June 19 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today said that there was no move to opt for early assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

''Our governments in both states will complete their terms,'' he told reporters at the state BJP office here where he is attending a core group meeting of the party's Chhattisgarh unit.

Mr Singh was responding to a question about the likelihood of BJP regimes in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh opting for early polls along with Gujarat by this year's end. ''Any such report has no substance,'' he added.

Asked about growing intra-party dissidence in Gujarat where MLAs were going public against Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP chief warned that stern action awaited legislators who violated party discipline.

He defended the Gujarat Chief Minister by saying that Mr Modi proved successful in accelerating the development pace and making Gujarat a model state.
