MCX turnover at Rs 3,008.58 cr

Mumbai, Jun 19 (UNI) The Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) turnover today touched Rs 3,008.58 crore in the first session and total number of trades was 56,476.

MCX Comdex--the composite index of metal, energy and agri-indices--was down 0.19 per cent at 2158.61 points.

The MCX Metal Index lost at 0.47 per cent at 2524.01 points, MCX Energy Index was at 2247.29 points, and MCX Agri Index ended at 1682.15 points, a MCX spokesperson said.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 1052.78 crore of which gold was Rs 636.26 crore and silver Rs 416.52 crore. Gold contract volumes were 7,246 kgs and open interest was 15,164 kg while silver volumes were 230,915 kgs and open interest was 583,715 kg.

Gold contracts, including gold mini, lost between Rs 16 and Rs 26 per 10 gm, with the August contracts down by 0.19 per cent at Rs 8777 per ten gm.

Silver contracts, including silver mini, receded by between Rs 36 and 61 per kg. The July contract was down at Rs 17,992 per kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 714.23 crore with volume of 23,368,000 kg and open interest of 13,527,000 kg. Copper contracts traded down between Rs 2.15 and Rs 2.65 per kg with the June contract receding by 0.86 per cent at Rs 305 per kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 484.42 crore with volume of 32,285 tonnes and OI of 31,110 tonnes. Zinc contracts lost between Rs 1.60 and Rs 1.65 per kg with the June contract was at Rs 149.60 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 313.04 crore with volume of 1,922,750 kg and open interest of 1,099,000 kg. Nickel for June delivery was down by 2.51 per cent at Rs 1,620.70 per kg.

Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 5.03 crore with volume of 458 tonnes and open interest of 6,486 tonnes. Aluminium June contract was down 0.27 per cent at Rs 1109.50 per kg, the MCX spokesman added.
