New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) As part of efforts to improve living standards of slum dwellers in Delhi, MCD plans to embark upon the Sawda Ghewra resettlement project which envisages provision of minimum basic amenities in JJ Cluster itself and their relocation as per request received from the land owning agencies.

Briefing mediapersons after taking stock of the Sawda Ghewra Project on Rohtak Road, Delhi mayor Arti Mehra said that the Slum and JJ Department of the Municipal Corporation was working for improving the living standard of Slum dwellers who are residing in JJ Clusters and in the Walled City.

''All efforts are being made to improve the living standard of jhuggi dwellers through an approved three-pronged strategy of provision of minimum basic amenities in JJ Cluster itself, on site upgradation and improvement and relocation of JJ Clusters as per request received from the land owning agencies,''Ms Mehra said.

The land was proposed to be utilised by the department for development of plots for relocation of Slum dwellers. Accordingly, the Planning Board approved the layout plan of the area.

The scheme of Savda Ghevra is proposed to be developed in three phases.
